Reflection Journal for Lab 7

In lab 7, I used different kinds of filters on the same photo 6 times. The objective of the lab was most likely to see what each kind of filter does to a picture. To do this lab I created 5 copies of the same photo and used 1 different photo on the top right. On each photo I used 6 different types of filters, Artistic, Sketch, Blur, Distort, Liquify, and Diffuse filter. I added clouds in the background and lens flare.   I used a software called Photoshop to complete this lab. This lab is relevant to web design because it shows you what different filters do. But in general, the key thing that I learned is to try different things since it can give you different and sometimes better results. In design, trying new things is important. Sticking to the same thing all the time makes it boring. I will use these skills in the future when I want to apply a certain filter to a certain photo.

Reflection Journal for Lab 6

For Lab 6, I used vector shapes to remake a drawing that I have done. Vector shapes can replicate a lot of things in a simpler version, which is shapes. There are a wide variety of vector shapes to choose from to match my needs. I used grass shapes to replicate the grass in my drawing and tree bark texture shapes to color the tree in and outlined it with the line shape. To do the clouds in my drawing, I used the eclipse shape and so on. The objective of this lab was most likely to recreate a drawing but only with shapes. I used Photoshop (a photo editing software) to do this.    This lab is related to web design because it relates to general designing. I used a lot of different shapes to create a drawing. That is directly relating to design in general, and web design requires a lot of designing to do. That is why it is called web design in the first place.I will most likely use these skills when I draw something on paper but i want to improve it digitally.

Reflection Journal for Lab 5

In lab 5, I used brushes to recreate a drawing. The objective of the lab was to recreate a drawing that I have already made but with brushes and colors. Another objective might be to test our creativity. For example, how we can think of different brush types to represent the texture of objects from our drawing. I did this lab by recreating my drawing in Photoshop with different sized brushes to match my drawing, different colored brushes to represent the color of the object in the drawing, and different types of brushes to emphasize on the texture of the object in the drawing.      This lab required Photoshop, which is a photo editing software. Lab 5 is relevant to web design because it teaches you to be more creative, and I think in the field of web design, creativity is very important. With creativity, you can do a lot of things that other people couldn't do, and it would not only amaze them but also be very useful sometimes, depending on where you use your creativity. I

Reflection Journal for Project 2

For project 2, I researched for pictures that relate to Bill Gates, who is the subject of my project. Using those pictures, I made a collage that maintained the shape of Bill Gates, with pictures that are relevant to his life. That was for the collage. For the cutout I wrote a sentence that describes Bill Gates. The sentence repeated itself around the edge of the shape of Bill Gates in a portrait of him. The objective of the lab was to mainly work on creativity. For example, how we created the collage that maintained the someones portrait, not many people would think of that or may struggle while making it real in Photoshop.   To do this project I used tools such as Type tool, Quick Selection Tool, and  Mask tool. This time, we used the Type tool in a different way which is to make the text go around the shape of the subjects facial shape. In order to do this project I used Photoshop. This is relevant to web design because it basically works on creativity which is crucial in w

Reflection Journal for Lab 4

In Lab 4, I basically created a collage like thing with a few pictures. The objective of the lab was most likely to explore and learn more about photography. For example, what makes a picture look good and what makes it look bad and how to improve on it etc. We took pictures at high points of view,  Low points of view, eye level, close up etc. Later on we put those pictures together to kind of make a collage.   To complete Lab 4, I used a software called Photoshop. Photoshop lets you manipulate pictures and lets you do a lot with just one picture. This is relevant to web design because it lets you become a photographer temporarily and it lets you see what looks good and what looks bad. You gain more experience with photos which most web designers are. These skills can be used to edit photos in the future.

Reflection Journal for Lab 3

For Lab 3, we copied images of a car and we changed it so it to have different effects. Each one of four had different effects. For example, changed Hue, saturation, replaced color, and black & white. The objective of the lab was most likely to get familiar with the Photoshop software by using effects that is provided by it. So the next time we know what hue, does or what saturation does. Not only do we know what effects are what but we also know how to apply a certain effect on the image. I did this project by using different tools in Photoshop and by using different effects on the car images. The software I used is called Photoshop. This is relevant to web design because it gets you to be more familiar with tools and effects in Photoshop. In web design, Photoshop skills are important because most of the websites are graphics and is what visually appeals to a visitor of the website. In that case getting used to Photoshop or learning Photoshop skills are very important.

Reflection Journal for Lab 2

I created many versions of the same dogs on the same image. The dogs had different effects for each one. I did the different effects by playing around with the brightness, lightness, contrast, and hue etc. The objective of the lab was to make several versions of the same dog. Each one with its own effects. Also another objective may be practicing and perfecting our skills on selection of something in an image.   I made several copies of a dog by selecting it and make new layers via copying the selection. Then after making the copies, I applied different kinds of effects to them. Each one had its own. For example, there was an effect that was black and white, contrast, lightness, hue etc. I basically played with the lights and contrast of the overall image. To do this I used a software called Photoshop. This lab is relevant to web design because web design is not just about websites or technology its more about creativity and how a website looks overall and what kind of feelings

What does GIF, JPEG, PNG, Raw, and TIF all mean?

GIF- The acronym GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. It is a file format that supports both animated and static images. Keep this in mind, Its a picture file format and not a video file format even though it seems like its moving. JPEG- JPEG  is  a picture file format that is very famous. It stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. Now, JPEG is popular in photography industry because its a picture file format which can compress the image into a smaller sized file. PNG- PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics. This file type is like JPEG, It compresses images. Also, PNG files can compress 10 to 30 percent more than GIF files.   Raw- Raw is an image file type that stores information from a camera like for example, ISO, Aperture, Contrast, and Exposure etc. However this file type cannot be printed or shared since it doesn't compress the image like JPEG, GIF, and PNG does.Raw just means its a raw image directly from a camera. TIFF- The TIFF file t

Windows 10 vs Mac Sierra

There are many differences between mac and windows. The main difference is the user interface. For example, In mac OS there is a dock and in windows there is the task bar. The two look very different in terms of design. Also, Most software are built to run on windows and so mac OS is limited to the software it can run but that doesn't mean mac cant do anything, It can, its just that some software don't run on mac OS. The user experience for the both are great and overall they are just operating systems. Not a big deal.

Who am I? Why am I here?

Hello, my name is Khademul Islam Mahin. I am 15 years old. Currently I am a sophomore in Information Technology High School. I am from a country known as Bangladesh, Where I was born and raised there as a child. My dad got the chance to come to the US and he did for reasons that are very important to him.Afterwards my family came here. At first when I was accepted in a elementary school I got to see how this countries school were and everything else that I got to see when I came here. In general, It was new and a great experience overall.        Before moving on to high school I had to choose from a lot of high schools. I chose a few technology related high school and got accepted to Info Tech. I chose technology related high schools because after I came here I saw what technology can really do and since age 13 I had the dream of becoming a software engineer.I was filled with new experiences. Those experiences made me who I really am today.
